For Tagore lovers, Tatanagar presents yet another opportunity to marvel at the Nobel laureate's oeuvre. An exhibition train, Sanskriti Express, which was introduced by the Indian Railways in 2010 to celebrate Rabindranath Tagore's 150th birth anniversary, will arrive at Tatanagar railway station on Wednesday. The exhibition train will halt at the bayline of Tatanagar railway station for free public viewing between 10am and 8pm. Confirming the arrival of the exhibition train, Tatanagar station manager in-charge Rajendra Prasad told The Telegraph that Calcutta's Garden Reach, the headquarters of South Eastern Railway, had issued a circular in this regard. "We are making necessary arrangements to enable more people to take part in the exhibition," he said. Comprising five air-conditioned coaches modified at Liluah railway workshop, the train highlights Tagore's life, achievements and thought. The first coach, Jibon Smriti, will showcase a photographic biography of the laureate. The second, Gitanjali, will exhibit his poems and songs, with the coach ' divided into two spaces, Jogajog and Muktodhara ' dedicated to his literary works. Chitrarekha will depict Tagore's paintings, while the last, Smaranika, will exhibit and sell handicraft items from Santiniketan, the university-town founded by the poet. The train arrived at Ghatshila on Monday. After Tatanagar, the train will chug off for Sini (Seraikela-Kharsawan) where visitors can walk in on August 23. The train will then move to Chaibasa on August 24. Railway officials said the Sanskriti Express would halt at Ranchi station on August 26 and later it will travel to Bokaro where the exhibition is scheduled on August 28. The exhibition train is visiting Tatanagar for the second time. Earlier, it was stationed in the steel city station in December 2010 for a five-day exhibition. |
