Coaches XI won the inaugural Poweron Trophy by derailing the Railways XI by 20 runs in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s Twenty-20 tournament. It collected the trophy at the closing ceremony held at a glittering manner amidst booming music and break-dance. Players from several participating teams took part in the gala event, cheering the winners and runners, with gusto. Andhra Cricket Association secretary Gokaraju Gangaraju presented the trophy to Coaches XI. The winning team led by man of the match Bapiraju derailed the Railways XI by 20 runs in the final at Siddhartha Medical College grounds. The final was a keenly fought encounter with Coaches XI making 187 for seven in the allotted 20 overs with Bapiraju making 43. In reply, Railways XI made 167 for eight in 20 overs with Srinivas making 42.

Sloppy fielding by Railways XI was the main cause for defeat as the fielders dropped too many catches, especially in the deep, during the last five overs. Man of the tournament award went to Rambabu of Police XI, while the best batsman and best bowler awards went to Ravi and Bapiraju, both from Coaches XI.

KDCA vice president C. R. Mohan, who was the architect of the tournamen, spoke.

Mr. Chukkapalli Ramakrishna Prasad, director of Kusalava Group of Industries and sponsor of the tournament, said his company will sponsor the tournament every year. ACA vice president Ch. Arun Kumar, ACA director M.S.K. Prasad, KDCA secretary A. Yella Rao, ACA Central Zone secretary Koka Ramesh and others attended.
