Title - SWR ‘B’ team wins TT championship

The South Western Railway “B” team has won the First Invitational Inter Club Table Tennis Championship hosted by the SWR Sports Association (SWRSA) by defeating SWR ‘A’ team in the finals played on Sunday evening.In the final match played on Sunday evening, Jaydeep Das of SWR ‘B’ team defeated U. Krishnamurthy of SWR ‘A’ team by 3-0. However, SWR ‘B’ team lost the next two matches but fought back strongly in the reverse singles. Jayadeep Das and Sagayraj of SWR ‘B’ defeated Anirban Choudhary and U. Krishnamurthy of SWR ‘A’ in the reverse singles to win the championship.The winning team comprised Jayadeep Das, Sagayraj, Kuppu Rao, and Srinivas while the runners up team comprised U. Krishna Murthy, Anirban R. Choudhary, Bona Thomas, and P.R. Arun.In the two-day championship which was played on round robin league basis at the Railway Officers’ Club, various table tennis clubs from Hubli, Dharwad, and Belgaum apart from the railway teams had participated. Both the A and B team of SWR made it to the semi-finals and they defeated ATTA ‘A’ team and STTC ‘A’ team respectively by 3-0.Vashishta Johri, Chief Mechanical Engineer, SWR and President of SWRSA, gave away the cash prizes and to the winning teams and individual prizes to the players.

Honorary General Secretary of SWRSA and Deputy General Manager of SWR S.K. Gupta welcomed the gathering.
