Title - SWR emerges overall champion

South Western Railway (SWR, Bengaluru) swept the overall team championship of the 54th all-India Railway aquatics meet which concluded here on Saturday.SWR garnered 159 points to relegate Western (145) to second position. SWR’s Sajan Prakash emerged the individual champion by winning four gold and a silver medal.On the fourth and final day, only one record was improved. The SWR quartet clocked 3:39.97s in the 4x100m freestyle relay, which bettered the previous record of 3:41.88s set by SWR four years back.SWR won the waterpolo title defeating Western by eight goals to four in the final. The host Eastern finished third beating Southern 6-5 in the play-off. The diving championship went to Western (31 points). DLW (Varanasi) was second (22).

Sumanta Nath (SER) 1:03.32, 3. S. Premnath (SR) 1:04.35. 100m butterfly: 1. Sajan Prakash (SWR) 56.58s, 2. R. Rahul (SWR) 59.31, 3. K. Diwakar (SR) 59.85. 400m individual medley: 1. Merwyn Chen (WR) 4:44.28s, 2. Sanu Debnath (ER) 4:45.27, 3. V. Abhishek (SWR) 4:51.09. 4x100m freestyle relay: 1. SW 3:39.97s (NMR, old 3:41.88 by SWR, 2009), 2. Western 3:42.06, 3. Southern 3:45.76. Waterpolo final: SER bt Western 8-4; Third place: Eastern bt Southern 6-5.
