Title - Suspension of train services in the entire Darjeeling region

In view of the prevailing situation in Darjeeling train services on the entire narrow gauge of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway section is suspended. The decision has been taken to ensure safety of passengers in the region. Due to reports of violence and bandh the entire 87 kms of section will remain close until further notice.

Last night, some miscreants tried to burn Gayabari station however the heritage property was saved from any major damage. It may be mentioned that the current tourist season had seen a very favourable response with DHR recording an increase of 74% in cumulative earnings in 2017-18.
