Survey work for the proposed high-speed rail corridor from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram is under way.An official press release issued by the Information and Public Relations Department here quoted Kerala High Speed Rail Corporation chairman and managing director T. Balakrishnan as saying that the survey work was under way for the rail corridor for trains running at a speed of 350 km a hour.The survey was being conducted by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd. The work started from Mangalore, the release said.The DMRC would conduct the field survey and submit the detailed project report.The release said the high-speed track required a width of 15 to 20 metres. The project envisaged tunnels in urban areas for laying the track. There would be no level-crossing and pathways across the tracks, it said. |
