Krishna district Collector Buddha Prakash M. Jyothi on Monday discussed with officials the possibility of draining out stagnated flood water into the Budameru canal from the affected colonies.At a review meeting with Irrigation, Revenue, Municipal Corporation, and Roads and Buildings officials here, Mr. Buddha Prakash sought to know why water was not receding even after the Velagaleru regulator was closed and there was no fresh flood from the catchment areas.He directed the officials to discharge water from the Budameru slowly, keeping in view the standing crops downstream.When officials said sand dunes were formed at Gunadala bridge and removal of the old bridge was one of the solution for draining out flood water, the Collector asked them to discuss the matter with South Central Railway officials as the bridge was located in the railway area. In charge Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner K. Bhaskar said a meeting was planned on November 7 with officials of various departments to find out a permanent solution to prevent colonies from getting flooded in future. Mr. Bhaskar visited the affected colonies and streets in the One Town area and gave suggestions to municipal engineers on pumping flood water.Joint Collector P. Usha Kumari, Sub-Collector S.
