SHRI KOTLA JAYA SURYA PRAKASH REDDY, HON’BLE UNION MINISTER OF STATE FOR RAILWAYSHOLDS REVIEW MEETING WITH TOP OFFICIALS OF SOUTHERN RAILWAY

Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways held a review meeting with Shri Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway, Dr. G. Narayanan, Additional General Manager, along with the Principal Heads of Departments & Senior officials of Southern Railway today (21.8.2013).  The progress of various o­ngoing projects were discussed. Escalator progress, construction of new hospital building at Perambur were also reviewed.  Projects requiring additional fund allocation have been projected by Southern Railway during this meeting. Further, he desired provision of better amenities at stations where more tourists congregate. The Hon. Minister urged the railway officials for improving the quality of linen and also the quality of food which is being served to rail-passengers.  He also stressed the importance of safety o­n Indian Railways and desired the elimination of unmanned level crossings over Southern Railway.

Later o­n, Hon’ble Minister inspected Chennai Central railway station accompanied by the General Manager, Principal Heads of Department and Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division. He had a very detailed inspection of various passenger amenities provided at Chennai Central and also held detailed discussions o­n how to further enhance the amenities.  He inspected the functioning of baggage scanner, Jan Ahar food stall and had a thorough look of the station buildings, A/c waiting hall, Cleanliness, Medical care center, the control room of Integrated Security System (ISS) of the station. He later inspected the Mechanised laundry functioning at Coaching Depot, Basin Bridge regarding the washing, drying and pressing of linens supplied to rail passengers.
