Title - Special train to ferry KJP supporters to Haveri

A special train from Mysore will ferry supporters of  former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa from Mysore to Haveri, where he will formally launch his KJP party on December 9.A top party functionary in the district has approached the South Western Railway (SWR), Mysore Division on Thursday to run a train exclusively for the convention. Railway Department sources told Deccan Herald that there was a proposal to run two trains earlier, from the party side. However, it was later finalised to one. Following the request, the railways are assessing the availability of rakes without disturbing the regular services.

Train details: The train will have 18 compartments of second class that will be readied as per the request. Currently, the railways has only four such bogies ready. Keeping in view the regular services, the train will run on the eve of the convention from Mysore station.Each compartment can accommodate 72 passengers and the fare will be fixed per head Rs 181 (to and fro) according to the given capacity of the bogies. The fare amount alone will be between Rs seven lakh and eight lakh apart from the refundable deposit of Rs nine lakh.The train from Mysore-Haveri will pass via Hassan, Arasikere, Birur, Davangere and Harihara junctions. It is not known, however, whether the trains have to be run non-stop up to Haveri or will stop at junctions eroute. In case of an express run, it may take seven hours to reach the destination and additional three hours if stoppages are allowed.

From Haveri, the train will be moved to Hubli for water wash and other maintenance works.

KSRTC buses booked

This is for the first time in the recent past, that a train is booked from Mysore station.

About seven to eight years ago, a train was booked by JSS Mahavidyapeetha for ‘Bharat Darshan’ yatra to New Delhi as part of a circuit tour from Mysore. One or two compartments are usually booked on trains in advance on special occasions.

KSRTC buses have also been also booked from Mysore district.

From H D Kote, six buses have already been  booked. On Thursday, a request for 10 buses has been made at KR Nagar, said an officer on condition of anonymity.
