Title - Southern Railway showing upward trend in Freight Earning

An impressive performance in freight loading has been shown by Southern Railway in the first 2 months of the current financial year. 

6.35 million tonnes of freight has been loaded in the month of April - May, 2018 as compared to 4.23 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year. The target set by Railway board was 5.43 million tonnes from which Southern Railway surpassed by 17%.

As far as numbers are concerned - 

• Coal loading to power houses increased from 303 rakes to 464 rakes.
• Loading of food grains increased by 134%.
• Loading of raw materials to steel plants increased to 1.03 million tonnes from 0.29 million tonnes.
• Loading of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants grew by 6%.
• Loading of fertilisers increased by 11 %.
• The Goods Earnings by the zone increased to Rs.527.10 crores from Rs.333.92 crores.
