The South Central Railway on Thursday commissioned sixth escalator on platform nos. 2/3 at Secunderabad railway station.Already, five escalators were being operated on platform Nos. 1, 6/7, 8/9 and 10. Another escalator on the remaining platform Nos. 4/5 will be commissioned by this month-end, officials said. With this, all the platforms at Secunderabad will have escalators, which cost Rs.6.75 crore.In view of heavy passenger footfalls on platform Nos. 1 and 10, which are the main entry/exit for Secunderabad station, two lifts are also being provided at a cost of Rs. 78 lakh.Three escalators and two lifts are set to come up at Kacheguda passenger terminal at a cost Rs. 3.86 crore.In view of heavy passenger footfall on platforms 1 and 10, two lifts are also being provided at a cost of Rs. 78 lakh |
