International Master D.P. Singh, representing Southern Railway, tallied eight points for the top spot in the first KCM-FIDE-rated open chess tournament here on Thursday.The fifth seed settled for a quick draw against IM R. Balasubramaniam of ICF in the final round for the title.FIDE Master Aravindh Chithambaram, Ram S. Krishnan (BSNL) and P. Phoobalan (ICF) tied for the second position with 7.5 points apiece. However, Aravindh with a better tie-break score finished runner-up.Senthil Chinnasamy, Managing Director, GN Mills was the chief guest. P.K. Selvamurugesan, President, Coimbatore District Chess Association and other office bearers were also present.Important results (final round): D.P. Singh (S.Rly) 8 drew with R.
