Title - Signature campaign over potholes in Jetalpur under-bridge

VADODARA: The Vadodara Nagarik Sangharsh Manch (VNSM) has started an agitation over the bad condition of the Jetalpur railway under-bridge in the city. The under-bridge has developed major potholes and poses major trouble as well as risk to commuters.VNSM conducted a signature campaign near the under bridge and submitted a memorandum regarding its condition to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). VNSM functionaries said that over 500 people signed the memorandum within a short period at the under-bridge.The organisation has stated that the VMC has started work on the Alkapuri under-bridge and closed one lane in it leading to Sayajigunj from Alkapuri for traffic. This has lead to extensive use of the Jetalpur underpass. But the underpass has not been taken care of in the recent past and the road in it has been virtually washed away.VNSM claimed that several commuters had met with minor accidents in it. The VMC has assured that it will take care of the problem at the earliest.The VMC had recently inaugurated a rail over-bridge above the Jetalpur under-bridge. But the over-bridge lands near the Bhimnath temple which is a long distance. For shorter distances using the service roads and then the under-bridge remain much more convenient.
