Siemens does not believe in merely handing over a cheque, but supports a cause with active participation. Siemens India has always participated in initiatives that required it to render its responsibility to society.
on february 28, 2012, as part of corporate citizenship initiative, Siemens donated 50 hand luggage trolleys worth Rs. 7 lakhs to porters at different railway stations in bangalore. 25 trolleys were given to the porters at yeshwantpur railway station, 15 trolleys at bangalore city railway station, 5 trolleys at krishnarajpuram railway station and 5 trolleys kept as reserved. The objective was to relieve the physical burden carried by the porters thereby ensuring safety, support to elderly porters and sustainability in livelihood on account of their decreased capacity to carry luggage. Siemens also donated Rs. 50,000 towards the construction of stationing area for parking of trolleys at yeshwantpur railway station. the trolleys will carry the logo indicating the sponsorship by Siemens. mr. s. mani, bangalore divisional railway manager, south western railway, inaugurated the function and appreciated this initiative taken by corporate citizenship of Siemens Ltd.

mr. venkatesh, a porter at yeshwantpur railway station station was overwhelmed on receiving the trolleys. “this will help us a lot because it will ease the physical burden on us as well as it will lead to an increase in our daily earnings”, said mr. venkatesh.
