Title - SER earns reccord amount from scrap sales

Kolkata  ; The South Eastern Railway(SER) has registered a 40 per cent jump in scrap sale to Rs. 289.53 crore during the last financial year.According to SER sources here today, the amount was Rs 83.53 crore more than Railway Board's annual target for 2011-12.The sale consisted of 72,571 tonnes of junk materials, seven discarded locomotives, 66 unused coaches and 899 old wagons besides 31,922 tonnes of miscellaneous scrap items, the sources informed.Hailing the achievement as 'outstanding',the Railway Board had decided to award SER the'Sales Management Shield',jointly with West Central Railway,though SER was top ranked in the overall all India position in terms of revenue generation among all Railway zones, the sources added.
