The contract of the private caterer engaged to serve food on the Sealdah - New Delhi Rajdhani Express has been terminated following the complaint by passengers of serving stale food for dinner. Regarding the quality of food served on the Sealdah Rajdhani Eastern Railway already received 19 complaints in February. Also the catering agency was fined approx. 45 lakh rupees over the last few months. After Asansol MP Babul Supriyo took up the issue on the passengers' behalf Prabhu cancelled the license immediately. The agency that faced the axe is R K Associates & Hoteliers Pvt Ltd, one of the largest caterers to serve food on nearly 150 trains and in charge of stalls at major stations. On Sealdah Rajdhani Express, now food will be served by IRCTC. In 2015 CBI pulled R K Associates for supplying inferior quality packaged water to passengers on premier trains. Officials admit that tendering process for catering isn't transparent. | ||
