Title - SCR to remove UMLCs by 2015

To address the security concerns posed by the unmanned level crossings (UMLCs), the South Central Railway (SCR) has started the process of eliminating all UMLCs by the year 2015. Till now about 159 UMLCs have been removed, said G.N. Asthana, General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR).

Passenger comfort
Speaking at a function organised here on Thursday, as part of the 57{+t}{+h}Railway week, he said that passenger comfort was a priority for SCR and for this purpose 18 lifts and 30 escalators would be provided at major railway stations.He added that 277 Railway Protection Force personnel had been deployed on 87 trains on certain vulnerable routes.Mr. Asthana congratulated the SCR employees for bagging the Pandit Govind Ballabh Panth shield for over-all best performance. He also presented awards to 189 employees of the SCR.
