NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to quash the 37-year-long trial in the case relating to murder of former railway minister L N Mishra in 1975.The SC said that though 30 judges have handled the trial so far, each of them has done their best for an expeditious trial. So, the delay can not be blamed on the system to seek quashing of the trial, the apex court said. The accused had complained that the apex court had 20 years ago directed day-to-day trial, which has not happened leading to breach of their fundamental right to speedy justice. The SC asked the trial court to hold day-to-day proceedings for expeditious completion of trial but said the 37-year-long trial could not be quashed on the ground of delay. |
