Title - Salem-Karur: trial run today

As a prelude to the inspection expected to be carried out by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) on the Salem – Namakkal – Karur new broad gauge tracks between February 25 and 27, the Construction Organisation of the Southern Railway would conduct a trial run on Thursday with speed exceeding 110 kmph.Railway officials said that the strength of the 85-km-track would be studied by running a locomotive engine with three coaches at a speed between 110 kmph and 130 kmph.Commercial operations began in the sector last November.Passenger train service was expected to commence from March after the inspection, officials said.
