Title - Rs 2000 bet for derailing or stopping a train

On January 24 near Diva station a 380kg iron rod was placed across railway track. 5 Mumbai residents were held by police for their alleged involvement in the crime. Police says they did to win Rs 2000 bet.

Over 700 passengers on Madgaon - Dadar Jan Shatabdi Express had a close shave on January 24 night when loco pilots used emergency braked to bring train to halt before 25 to 30 meter distance from 7 meter long rail piece. Railway officials said that although train was moving at 15kmph but had it hit the iron piece it could have derailed.

Police arrested this robber gang who confessed during interrogation about the placing of rod on tracks. 

"They said Maila Makandar, a history-sheeter, had placed a Rs 2,000 bet with them if they could stop or derail the train."
