Title - Revenue increases to 19.13 % : Indian Railways

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways has shown a tremendous increase of 19.13 per cent with the total revenue earnings amounting to Rs. 3282.38 crore during the period from 11th to 20th May 2012, as compared to Rs. 2755.19 crore reported during the same period last year. Showing an increase of 3.73 per cent, approximately 223.96 million passengers were booked during the period of 11th to 20th May 2012, as against 215.91 million during the same period last year. On the other hand, an increase of 24.79 per cent was reported in total goods earnings, which were Rs. 1884.04 crore during the period from 11th to 20th May 2011, and now have gone up to Rs. 2351.07 crore during 11th May to 20th May 2012. However, during the same period, total passenger revenue was Rs. 821.79 crore as against Rs. 765.98 crore during the year-ago period, showing an increase of 7.29 per cent. The other coaching revenues for 11th to 20th May 2012 are reported as Rs. 79.55 crore as compared to Rs. 77.20 crore during 11th to 20th May 2011, an increase of 3.04 per cent.
