Railway will connect Rameswaram directly to two major cities of north and western India by introducing 2 more weekly Superfast trains.

A proposal to connect Rameswaram from Ajmer and Hisar directly is lying on the table of Railway Board. South Western Railway is awaiting official orders from Rail Authorities.

Ramanathaswamy temple attracts tourists in big numbers from all across the country. Railway wants to introduce weekly trains that will run through Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

According to proposal, weekly train will leave Hisar on Thursday every week and will arrive Rameswaram on Sunday. From Rameswaram train will depart on Mondays.

Weekly train from Ajmer however will run via Renigunta - Katpadi section or via Chennai Egmore due to non-availability of route.
