Hindi Week Celebrations culminated with the main function held today. Sri A.K.Mital, General Manager, SCR, was the Chief Guest o­n the occasion and Shri K.L Pandey, Additional General Manger and Shri Mahesh Chandra, Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari, SCR were the
Guests of Honour. Hindi day messages from Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde and Hon’ble Minister for Railway Sri Mallikarjun Kharge were read out by Shri Mahesh Chandra and Shri Laxman Shivhare, Sr.Rajbhasha Adhikarirespectively.
Addressing at the valedictory function of the celebrations, Shri A.K. Mital said that S.C. Railway is much ahead in implementing the use of Hindi as Rajbhasha in day to day working by the railway officials. But there is still a lot to be done.He appealed to all the officers and staff to use Hindi while carrying out their official work.
Sri Mahesh Chandra, in his address, said that in compliance with the provisions of Indian Constitution, it is obligatory to propagate Hindi at all levels.Shri K.L.Pandey, Addl. General Manager has expressed his happiness over the commendable progress of Hindi o­n SCR, though it is located in 'C' region (non Hindi speaking areas).
"Rail Sudha" an annual Hindi House-Journal was released o­n this occasion by the General Manager, Shri A.K.Mittal. This House Journal contains Poems, Articles o­n various subjects, short stories, art works, quotations etc., written by railwayofficials in Hindi.
During the function officers and employees who have done commendable work in Hindi during the year 2012-13 were awarded under General Manager Award Scheme.General Manager has conferred these awards to 10 Officers & 30 employees.
Earlier in the day "Hindi Geet Antakshari" for Officers was held. Bairavi Team comparing ofShri K.L. Pandey, AGM and S.K. Aggarwal, Chief Operations Manager, SCR clinched the first prize.

Sri Laxman Shivhare, Sr. Rajbhasha Adhikari who has compered the whole programme said that all these programmes are being organised in the memory of Hindi day, the day o­n which in the year 1949, Hindi was adopted as Official Language of the Union. Railway officers / employees and their family members have participated in large number with much enthusiasm in the celebrations.
