Title - Railways' freight loadings up by more than 5 per cent

NEW DELHI: Railways have transported 565.37 million tonnes (MT) freight during April-October 2012, as against the 536.92 MT carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 5.3 per cent.The national transporter carried 83.92 MT of freight in October this year, an increase of 6.24 MT over the loadings of 77.68 MT transported during the same month last year, showing an increase of 8.03 per cent.The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 38,090.19 crore during April-October 2011 to Rs 47,386.64 crore for the corresponding period this year.
