Nellore: Railway authorities have decided to demolish the 70 year-old foot-over bridge near Gudur railway station shortly because it is in a dilapidated state. However, the authorities have no plans to construct a new one in place the old one, going by the observations made by South Central Railway divisional manager Pradeep Kumar during a visit to the railway station at Gudur on Thursday.

While reacting to a question on new foot-over bridge, after examining the age-old foot over bridge, he told the media persons that people can make use of the foot over bridge located on the southern side of the railway station.

He pulled up the officials for poor sanitary conditions prevailing in the premises of the station after he noticed garbage strewn around.

He promised the construction of two more platforms (4 and 5) in Gudur railway station. Pradeep Kumar said that priority of railways is passenger protection as well as offering food and eatables at a reasonable rate to the travelling public.

Senior divisional commercial manager Satyanarayana and Gudur railway station manager R.G.V.S. Kumar were present with the DRM among others.
