Title - Railways adds more coaches

Panchkula: Due to the ongoing festive season, there are long waiting lists at the Chandigarh railway station. A rise in passenger volume has led to the long online waiting lists too as far as the train reservations are concerned.Due to the waiting lists, the officials have decided to add some extra coaches to some trains so that the passengers may not feel any inconvenience. Till now, an additional coach has been added to the Unanchahar Express and the Chandigarh-Lucknow train.“We are not getting any booking even to go to Delhi. I had come to my parents in Chandigarh and have to return back to Delhi before the Navrtras that is October 16 and all the trains to Delhi are packed to their capacity with long waiting lists,” said Sharda Dubey, who has come to her parents’ house at Sector 14, Panchkula.Another resident of Sector 8, Chandigarh, said, “I checked the status online and was surprised to see such a long waiting list. I have to go home and celebrate Diwali with my family. I do not know how will I go home if this situation remains the same. Rishabh has to go to Mumbai and is working with a private firm here.There are people who had booked their tickets six months in advance. The officials have advised the public to book their tickets in advance to avoid any inconvenience.“I was told that a ticket to Indore is not at all possible. So, I had to book an air-ticket which has resulted in an unwanted increase in my vacation expenditure,” said Vivek Sharma, a resident of Mohali.

“We have added an additional coach to two trains to avoid any kind of inconvenience. In fact, every year even before the festive season begins, one comes across long waiting lists,” said Station Superintendent, Praveen Kumar.
