KOLKATA : The Howrah Division of Eastern Railway today celebrated the 57th railway week at Gulmohar Sports Complex.Governor MK Narayanan graced the occasion. As many as 60 employees of various departments of the division were presented with cash rewards, along with merit certificates for their outstanding performance.   The seven-day Railway Week is being celebrated across the country to commemorate the introduction of first train services in the country on 16 April in 1853 from Mumbai to Thane. Metro officials awarded Metro Railway spokesperson Protyush Ghosh and senior electrical engineer Debjit Mishra have bagged Indian Railways’ national awards for “outstanding performance” in their respective fields within the home zone. Railway minister Mukul Roy today handed over the citations and medals at the 57th Railway Week celebrations in New Delhi. sns
