Title - Railway terminates contract of 15 caterers and debars 16 more

As many as 15 caterer's contracts has been terminated and 16 other caterers were debarred to serve on Indian Railways. This action has been taken after complaints of poor quality food and overcharging on trains.

On it's Twitter handle Indian Railways often receives complaints frequently about certain caterers. After analysing and inquiring about these caterers, Railway decided to terminate the contract and debarring many others. According to the official data, Railway has also imposed fines amounting to 8.96 crore rupees from January to October this year. The point to be noted is that this amount is just double the amount levied last year between January and December.

Railway ministry spokesperson said that Indian Railway is very concerned about complaints over it's catering service and will become more strict towards the defaulters if complaints are proven right.
