Probe into derailment of two bogies at station A four-member team of senior railway officials visited the Kozhikode railway station on Saturday as part of conducting an internal inquiry into a recent incident in which two bogies of the Kannur-Kozhikode passenger train got derailed twice during its shunting. The team, comprising the Senior Divisional Engineers from four departments of the Railways, collected statements from the employees who were suspended in connection with the incident. As per the preliminary report, the suspended employees were responsible for giving false signal that reportedly led to the derailment of the bogies. The team, which held discussions with the station manager and the station master, would soon submit its report to the Palakkad Railway Divisional Manager. It was on last Wednesday that two bogies of the passenger train got derailed for the first time during its shunting. The incident that took place around 8.30 p.m. had led to disruption of train services for hours.Though the track was cleared with the assistance of a recovery train rushed from Palakkad, the bogies again got derailed the following day. Again, the recovery train from Palakkad had to be called to clear the track. |
