Title - Railway official shares secrets of good communication skills with students

It was time for orientation programme and investiture programmes in the educational institutions in the last fortnight.

Inaugurating the Toast Masters International U.S Certification Orientation Programme at Jain College in Hubli, Chief Personnel Officer of South Western Railway Gabriel Antony Pillay called upon the students to develop listening ability, clarity of speech and expression and inculcate empathy in their personality to become a good communicator.

He said that communication would be vibrant if the intonation was good. He said that success came to those “who dare and act” and motivated the students with captivating lecture on communication skills.

Presiding over the inaugural session Principal of the college, Maya Kulhalli said that the students should be armed with the skills and resources needed to achieve success in their careers.

A team of seven trainers came from Bangalore and conducted the programme in which over 150 students took part.

AT OXFORD COLLEGE

Past President of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Madan Desai inaugurated the orientation programme at Oxford College in Hubli. He told the students to have a goal in their life and work hard towards achieving it. Emphasising the need for developing the habit of reading good books, he said that good books enabled one to increase his or her knowledge.

Chairman of the college Vasanth Horrati presided over the function. Lecturer of the college Jitendra advised students to make use of the facilities available to them to reach their desired goal.

SCIENCE CLUB

The Science Club of K.L.E. Society’s English Medium School was inaugurated by Head of the Department of Botany of S.K. Arts and H.S. Kotambri Science College R.F. Inchal last week.

He called on the students to develop scientific temper and contribute in their own way to prevent pollution and contamination. He asked them to develop good food habits, indulge in physical activities apart from their academic exercises so as to ensure overall personality development. Principal Catherine Dinesh presided over the function.

INVESTITURE

The members of students’ council of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 of Hubli were installed through a formal investiture ceremony recently. Additional Divisional Railway Manager G.K. Dwivedy presented the badges to the students’ council members and to office-bearers of various committees. Mr. Dwivedy said the students were the ones who could bring about a change and called on them to contribute towards nation building.
