Title - Rail service to resume between Pakistan and Iran

Train services to resume between Iran and Pakistan by September this year with improved security situation. Railway officials of both countries recently met and discussed on security issues related to resumption of train services. After the meeting it was decided that a fortnight passenger train service will connect these two countries and will operate between Mashhad or may be Qom and Quetta.

A railway agreement was bilaterally signed and accepted between the two countries in the year 1959 which will be revised before resumption of any train service.

Railway Ministry of Pakistan is further looking to start 15 freight trains between Quetta and Zahendan to help business community of Pakistan.

In October 2017, Pakistan and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve border security between the two countries.
