No plan to hike fares: Delhi Metro
Following Wednesday’s announcement that the Union Urban Development Ministry has allowed all Metro rail networks including Delhi to carry out periodic revision of fares due to hike in input costs, the Delhi Metro has said it does not plan any immediate fare hike or revision.
Last week’s hike in electricity tariffs led to speculation over whether the Delhi Metro will pass on the costs onto the commuters. But the Delhi Metro responded that any revision of fares will be proposed only after consultation with the Board of Directors. Presently, an internal committee has been formed which will only evolve a general formula for periodic revision of fares, said Metro sources.
