Title - Rail fares might take a dip for Rajdhani and Shatabdi trainsPosted by : RailEnquiry Admin on Nov 19, 2016 - 13:00:56 PM |

With fall in demand of Shatabdi and Rajdhani seats Railway might slash the fare of its premium trains. Railway is not happy with serious fall in traffic for these two trains who are loosing its passengers to Airlines. Recently introduced flexi fare scheme did brought down the fare gap between trains and airlines to as low as Rs 500 due to which more passengers are opting airlines to travel. This has led Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to take a serious look on the fare but he says that price cut is not that simple; what we will do if demand is low, then in last few days we may lower price to attract passengers and once adequate number of seats are filled the price will rise up again. Again a lot of algorithmic work needs to be done for Indian Railways however officially it is not confirmed but railway is not denying the same. |
