Title - Protest over Tirupati railway gate closure

Demanding that the railway authorities should take immediate steps for  the construction of Road Under Bridge (RUB) at the now-closed railway gate opposite the APSRTC bus stand, local MLA B Karunakar Reddy, along with YSRC activists and local people staged a protest by squatting on the railway tracks near the Tirupati railway station here for nearly an hour on Saturday.The agitators flayed the unilateral decision of the railway officials to close the railway gate and said that their action caused difficulties not only to the locals but also to pilgrims. They wanted the officials to either reopen the gate or construct an RUB.Later, the MLA told newsmen that with the closure of the railway gate, which connected the northern and southern parts of the temple town, the people on either side of the gates were forced to make long detours to reach their destination.
