Title - President to take maiden trip on Delhi Metro tomorrow

NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Patil will take her maiden ride on the Delhi Metro tomorrow in a special train.The President will board a special four-coach train at Udyog Bhawan station and go up to Sultanpur and return from there.The DMRC which has earlier hosted a number of domestic and foreign VIPs/VVIPs and dignitaries on the mass rapid transport system will showcase the facilities and technologies being undertaken in the system, Rashtrapati Bhavan sources said.Patil will also be shown an exhibition on Metro's history and other statistics during the short trip.She will be accompanied by senior DMRC and Rashtrapati Bhavan officials during her over one-hour ride.Sources said the President was keen to visit the Metro which has become the city's lifeline as one of the most preferred public travel mode for people in the national capital and neighbouring cities like Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad.She would later sign the visitors book at Udyog Bhawan. The Delhi Police and the CISF have also made elaborate arrangements for the special trip that will begin at 0920 am in the morning.The DMRC has also made plans to keep the normal operations of the Metro going on during Patil's trip.
