Five persons, including a husband-wife duo, have been arrested for allegedly cheating several people on the pretext of providing jobs in Indian Railways.The fraud came to light when Surender Singh, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, lodged a complaint with the police on January 6 saying that one Narender Kumar and his wife Renu had cheated him of Rs.6.05 lakh on the pretext of providing his son a job in the Railways.Taking up investigation, the police arrested Renu, a resident of Karol Bagh, on March 6. Her husband and alleged mastermind, Narender, was arrested on April 23. Later, the police arrested Nakshe Lal (59), Nand Kishore (53) and Manish (32). Further ten more people approached the police saying that the accused had cheated them to the tune of Rs.10 lakh promising jobs in Indian Railways.Narender, who was a corporal in the Indian Air Force, left the job in 1992 and started cheating people along with his wife Renu and son Anand on the pretext of providing jobs in the Railways. Nakshe Lal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, is an old acquaintance of Narender and introduced him to Nand Kishore.

One of the gang members would take the victim to the Rail Bhavan and return with an “appointment letter” from inside the building while the latter was asked to wait outside. The victim was then taken to Railway Hospital in Old Delhi for “medical examination”. Nand Kishore, who is a Class IV employee at the Railway Hospital, would pose as a doctor and provided the candidate a forged medical certificate.

Manish, a resident of Karol Bagh, is a nephew of Narender.

  Indian Railways News  / Mukul to pursue Mamata's Vision 2020 for railways

New Delhi, April 26: Railway Minister Mukul Roy Thursday said he would take his Trinamool party chief Mamata Banerjee's Vision 2020 forward and deepen the agenda of inclusive growth.

"We will take the Vision 2020 forward," Roy said while replying to a debate on the demand for grants of the ministry 2012-13, which were passed by the Lok Sabha Thursday.

Roy replaced as railway minister his party's Dinesh Trivedi, who had to resign after his move to hike fares angered Mamata Banerjee.

Roy listed safety of the network, reduction in number of accidents and elimination of unmanned level crossings in a time-bound manner as priority areas. He also mentioned pursuing the public private partnership model for developmental projects.

रांची/चक्रधरपुर. 29 अप्रैल को आयोजित ऑल इंडिया इंजीनियरिंग एंट्रेंस एग्जाम(एआईईईई) के लिए ईस्ट कोस्ट रेलवे व दपू रेलवे ने परीक्षार्थियों के लिए सुविधाएं दी हैं। इसमें चक्रधरपुर रेल मंडल ने दो कोच एक यात्री ट्रेन में जोड़े हैं, ताकि परीक्षार्थियों को इस दौरान परेशानी नहीं हो, वहीं ईस्ट कोस्ट रेलवे एक स्पेशल ट्रेन ही चला रही है।

28 को भुवनेश्वर से स्पेशल ट्रेन
ईस्ट कोस्ट रेलवे परीक्षार्थियों के लिए एक परीक्षा स्पेशल ट्रेन 28 अप्रैल से चलेगी। 29 अप्रैल को राउरकेला में आयोजित होने वाली एआईईईई की परीक्षा को देखते हुए इस ट्रेन को चलाया जा रहा है। यह ट्रेन भुवनेश्वर से राउरकेला व राउरकेला से भुवनेश्वर के बीच चलाई जाएगी। भुवनेश्वर रेलवे स्टेशन से यह ट्रेन 28 अप्रैल की सुबह 7 बजे खुलेगी और 28 अप्रैल को दिन के 3 बज कर 45 मिनट पर राउरकेला रेलवे स्टेशन पहुंचेगी। वहीं 29 अप्रैल की रात 9 बज कर 45 मिनट पर यह ट्रेन राउरकेला से खुलेगी।

राउरकेला से स्पेशल कोच
चक्रधरपुर रेल मंडल के द्वारा भी एआईईईई इंजीनियरिंग की परीक्षा को देखते हुए 27 अप्रैल से 30 अप्रैल तक ट्रेन संख्या 18105 राउरकेला भुवनेश्वर इंटरसिटी ट्रेन में एक जनरल कोच और एक एसी चेयर कार का कोच भी अलग से जोड़कर चलाएगी। वहीं ट्रेन संख्या 18107 राउरकेला -कोरापुट ट्रेन में भी एक जनरल कोच जोड़ा जाएगा।"इंजीनियरिंग की परीक्षा महत्वपूर्ण है। राउरकेला में ओडि़शा जोन का एग्जाम हो रहा है। इस परीक्षा के लिये ईस्ट कोस्ट स्पेशल ट्रेन चला रहा है, वहीं चक्रधरपुर रेल मंडल स्पेशल कोच राउरकेला से दे रही है।" - एके हलधर,वरिष्ठ वाणिज्य प्रबंधक.

HYDERABAD: The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a criminal, who has been committing thefts on trains for the past two years, and recovered Rs 18lakh worth stolen gold from his possession.Acting on a tip-off, the GRP police raided the residence of Dasari Raghu, 35, of Ramnagar on Sunday and found some stolen gold articles in his possession. During interrogation, Raghu confessed that he has been lifting suitcases and stealing gold from handbags of women in crowded trains over the past two years. "He confessed to have committed thefts on several trains, including Delta Passenger, Simhapuri Express, Narsapur Express and Machilipatnam Express," GRP, Secunderabad, SP M Kanta Rao said. To avoid getting caught, Raghu used to mortgage most of his stolen booty with gold finance companies and enjoy the money taken from there, the SP added. Based on Raghu's confession, police recovered 67 tolas of gold worth Rs 18 lakh from various gold mortgaging institutions.

With the Railways announcing only four summer trains from Ernakulam so far, non-availability of tickets has made it difficult for people to travel to cities like Chennai or Bangalore during the vacation.“Interestingly, no additional train is there for Bangalore which wasn’t the situation last year.This, even after the railways has agreed to convert the three-day Bangalore-Ernakulam Jn Super Fast into a daily,” said Paul K.J. Manvattom, President, All Kerala Railway Users Association President.Of the four trains, the Kochuveli-Howrah (02852) will next run on April 29.No tickets are available in the Quilon-Madras Express running every Tuesday and Saturday between April nine and June 22.The other two trains are Ernakulam-Kurla (01066) Express running on every Thursday from April 5 to June 7 and the Tirunelveli-Kurla Express every Monday till June 5.“However, the railways is set to announce a few more summer specials in May. But how does it help the commuters who plan their trips in advance.Actually all trains should have been announced and introduced by March end,” a railway official said on the condition of anonymity.Meanwhile, there are demands for an additional train to either West Bengal, Orissa or Assam. “Migrant labourers are coming to Kerala like never before.Currently, the trains to these destinations are jam-packed and people are seen dangerously hanging on the doors,” Paul said.
