Title - Poster wish list for CM eyes

Behrampore : When Mamata Banerjee visits Behrampore on Wednesday, the Congress's wish list for the town will be up on posters for her to read. The posters ' each with one of 20 demands, including industry and railway projects ' have been put up at points that the chief minister will cross or where she will hold meetings. The posters in Bengali were today seen near the Barrack Square field where Mamata is scheduled to address a public meeting, as well as Rabindra Sadan, the venue of the administrative meeting. Adhir Chowdhury, the Behrampore Congress MP and a known critic of Mamata, would be in Delhi when she visits his home turf. "I wanted to meet her and talk about projects that would have helped the people of Murshidabad. But I have not been invited. So we have put up the posters to inform her what the people want," Chowdhury said over phone. The wish list includes setting up of a jute industry in Murshidabad, development of tourism centres, an agricultural university, upgrade of Behrampore municipality to a corporation, a railway component manufacturing unit in the district, new tracks and better train services. Mamata has never disguised her aversion for state Congress leaders, nor has Chowdhury ever let go of any opportunity to hit out at her. The chief minister is expected to announce 17 arsenic-free underground drinking water supply projects, a college for teachers' training, a skill development centre, schools, hostels, roads and bridges, apart from state schemes. "Ours is a backward district with the largest concentration of minorities. A railway component manufacturing unit would have helped the locals get better employment opportunities," Chowdhury said. District Congress leaders said they were not for a confrontation with the chief minister. "Our demands are simple. We are highlighting the needs of Murshidabad residents. Around 200 such posters have been put up for her to see," said Ashok Das, a local Congress leader. Local MLA and former minister in the Mamata government, Manoj Chakraborty, is also out of station. Trinamul leaders said they expected a gathering of 1.5 lakh at the Barrack Square meeting. The ruling party is putting up 40 "gates" in the district to welcome the chief minister.
