Title - Porterage charges of Sahayaks at railway stations increased

Railway Board has issued instructions to revised the charges of porterage at railway stations charged by the sahayaks. Following the instructions Northeast Frontier Railway has revised the charges. 

The new charges for carrying -

• Up to 40 kg per head of luggage by sahayaks - Rs 80. 
• Use of wheelchair or stretcher – Rs 100 
• Carriage of luggage by trolley – Rs 150 

Note - The porterage charges were last revised in 2012. 

“The economic and living conditions of the sahayaks were a matter for concern and the new rate is expected to be beneficial for the sahayaks. The realistic revision of the porterage charge is expected to curb overcharging by a section of the sahayaks. Passengers too are requested to pay only as per the approved rates and to avail the service of the licensed sahayaks only,” said PJ Sharma, Chief PRO of NRF.
