The police have ruled out extremist angle to the explosion that took place in the railway station complex on Tuesday night. The department came to this conclusion after interrogating the two persons who were injured in the blast and the fact that such explosives are normally used for blasting quarry stones.According to Urban SP T. Ravi Kumar Murthy -- Manukonda Krishna, a mason from Kanupuru, village and other a retired railway employee – were rushed to hospital immediately after the explosion. The police and the bomb disposal squad recovered a bag with six iron pipes with one end welded. The other end of the pipes was filled with explosive material. All the six pipes were covered with broomsticks. During interrogation it was revealed that Krishna left his sister’s house at Korukonda with the bag containing the pipes and took a bus to reach Rajahmundry.

But as he was passing by an ATM in the Rajahmundry railway station, the bag slipped from his hands and the explosives went off injuring Krishna and the retired railway employee.

When police checked the antecedents of Krishna, they found that he was a pig hunter and was engaged in illegal quarrying in the Korukonda area. He had lost fingers of his right hand in a quarry explosion in 2008. However, no definite conclusion could be drawn about Krishna’s activities and his connections with others.
