Title - Photo exhibition brings alive the railways’ past

They say a photograph is worth a thousand words. And this is precisely what one would feel at South Central Railway’s photo exhibition, which is currently on at Salar Jung Museum.

Right from a picture of the Bitragunta turn station, where steam engines used to change their turns in the past, to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru inspecting a locomotive and Mahatma Gandhi alighting from a third-class wooden compartment, the exhibition takes one through the journey of the Indian Railways.

The exhibition is being organised in connection with 160 years of the Indian Railways and features over 200 rare pictures of the mammoth institution, including bridges, loco maintenance, old passenger coach carriages, wagons, stations etc.

“It is a good opportunity for visitors to learn more about Indian Railways and its development over the years. These photographs present life in those days and I have enjoyed it and hope visitors will like it,” SCR General Manager D.P. Pande told media persons after inaugurating the expo on Saturday.

The exhibition, entry for which is free, is open till July 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
