JAIPUR: The heavy downpour in the morning has reminded Jaipurites of the torrential rain of August 22. It was almost a replay of horror of that night as public transport came to grinding halt.In many schools, utter chaos prevailed in morning hours. At government primary girls' school in Murlipura, water entered classrooms and students had to rush for a safer place."I heard the cries of students and rushed inside. I called my friends and with the help of teachers, took them to another place. However, rain stopped in 90 minutes," said Kailesh Saini, a tea vendor near the school. The district education authorities again directed school principals to take a call on closure while judging the condition of their buildings. Most parents were lucky that rain occurred after their wards reached school and stopped before school hours ended. Still, some parents made frantic calls to schools. At Jaipur railway station, platform number 2 and 3 were submerged leading to delay in the arrival of trains by nearly an hour. "It has affected the movement of six trains coming from different places. The water was pumped out before operations resumed at the station," said Lalit Bohra, chief spokesperson, North Western Railway. The Sindhi Camp bus station also saw waterlogging outside. It partially affected the frequency of buses as most of the buses got delayed from 8am to 10am. Though no flight movements were affected, rain resulted in the arrival of passengers at terminals. The porch at Terminal-2 was accumulated with water. | ||
