Pakistani authorities have made special security arrangements for trains that will bring an estimated 3,000 Indian Sikhs to the country to participate in events commemorating Guru Nanak's birth anniversary, a senior official said today.The security arrangements will be part of the measures put in place for the safety and security of the Sikh yatris or pilgrims, Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi told Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.During a meeting, Hashmi apprised the premier about arrangements made for the pilgrims to celebrate Guru Nanak's birth anniversary on November 25.He said over 3,000 Indian Sikhs are expected to reach Pakistan through the Wagah border. Pakistan Railways has made arrangements to run special trains for the pilgrims.Hashmi further informed the premier that Jore Mela was attended by a large number of Sikh yatris.The premier directed Hashmi to "maximise efforts and provide all possible facilities to the Sikh pilgrims", an official statement said. |
