Only 250 left for Guwahati on Saturday: Home minister
Home minister R Ashoka on Saturday maintained that fear among people from North-East in the city has diminished and fewer persons were boarding trains for Guwahati. He told reporters that on Saturday, only 250 persons from North-East left the city. The two special trains, scheduled to leave for Guwahati, were cancelled for want of passengers, he added. A special train can be run only if there are 3,000 passengers, he said. Most of the passengers who boarded the train on Saturday had come from places outside Bangalore. As on date, about 25,000 people have left for Guwahati, Ashoka said. The home minister said the police have made arrests regarding threatening people from North-Eastern states. A team of parliamentary membe rs from Northeastern states will be arriving in the city on Sunday to boost the morale of the North-Eastern people residing in city.
