Title - NWR safety claims gone with the wind

Backs pressed against each other, CPO aspirants sat atop train coaches on Sunday, exposing North Western Railway’s (NWR) tall claims of putting an end to this menace with a slew of fool-proof measures.

Returning home after appearing in the Central Police Organisation (CPO-Constable) and Pre-BEd. exams, they spilled out of the train which crossed the Gandhi Nagar railway station in Jaipur at 4.30 pm. Those who could not manage to squeeze themselves inside compartment, threw caution to the wind and sat on rooftops, making a mockery of the much publicised attempts of the state police and NWR.

The youths did not stop at violating the law, some shouted and cheered as the railway police and government railway police guards watched helplessly.

On Saturday, the NWR officials had told DNA that not only would the menace be checked through an elaborate action plan, but also responsibilities would be fixed on concerned officials (train guard, driver, ticket checking staff and security staff) if they failed to check rooftop travel.

Meanwhile, youths returning by the Jaipur-Churu train after appearing in the Pre-BEd created a ruckus at Chomu railway station by first stopping the train and then pelting stones on it. They also looted wares of food stall owners at the Chomu station.
