NORTHERN RAILWAY HONOURS SEVEN EMPLOYEES THROUGH SAFETY AWARDS

In keeping with the practice of honoring employees, whose alertness and prompt action have resulted in averting a possible accident, through Safety Awards, Northern Railway honoured the services of seven of its employees through Safety Awards at a ceremony held at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi today. The Safety awards were presented by Shri V.K.Gupta, General Manager, Northern Railway. Also present o­n this occasion were Sh. C.B.K.Singh, Chief Safety Officer, Northern Railway and the Principal Heads of all departments of Northern Railway.

The seven employees who were felicitated by the General Manager for their services are: Sh. Ram Prasad Saini, Station Master, Moradabad Division, Sh. Prem Chand, Trackman, Ambala Division; Sh.  Sushil Kaushal Loco Pilot, Ambala Division; Shri Ramesh, Gateman, Delhi Division; Shri Sukh Dev, Loco Pilot, Delhi Division; Shri Anil Kumar, Trackman, Firozpur Division and Sh. Arjun Kumar, P.Way Supervisor, Firozpur Division.

          Diligent working enabled Shri Ram Prasad Saini, Station Master/Bundki of Moradabad Division, while performing his duty o­n 06.06.2013, detect hot axle in a goods train. He immediately showed the red signal to Guard and informed the same to Station Master of the adjoining Murshadpur station.  The train was stopped at Murshadpur station and the wagon detached thus averting a mishap. 

          Similarly, utmost vigilance and attention to detail, presence of mind and intense concentration to duties enabled Shri Prem Chand, Trackman of Ambala Division, o­n duty o­n 13.09.2013 detect a detached wagon door obstructing the track o­n the girder of Bridge no. 283 between Barara-Kesri of Ambala section. Prompt communication of this vital information and immediate action by the Permanent Way staff in removing the obstruction enabled the Railway to avert a possible accident.

          Going beyond his brief of duties, alertness in working enabled Shri Sushil Kaushal, Loco Pilot, Passenger/Ambala  while working train no. 74646 Passenger train between Sirhind-Sadhoogarh Block Section o­n 17.09.2013 observe smoke in the Goods train Tughlakabad – Kiratpur Load coming from opposite direction. Prompt communication of this information to Chief Power Controller/Ambala enabled immediate remedial action by staff at adjoining Sirhind station and thereby avert a possible mishap.

Vigilant working enabled Shri Ramesh, Gateman, Faridabad of Delhi Division, while performing duty o­n 23.08.2013 at Level Crossing observe a hanging part in a goods train. He immediately alerted Guard of the train.  The load was immediately stopped by the Guard near Home Signal of Faridabad and the hanging part of the load which was infringing the track dangerously was removed.

Diligent and conscientious working enabled Shri Sukh Dev, Loco Pilot Mail/Delhi of Delhi Division avert a major level crossing accident when he was working 12031 New Delhi-Amritsar (Shatabdi Express) o­n 08.08.2013 o­n New Delhi-Ambala section. He noticed a bullock cart entering through the manned level-crossing in the distance and immediately applied emergency brake. Through his quick action in slamming the brakes, the train could be stopped just in time.

Similar meticulous observance of duties enabled Shri Anil kumar, Trackman under Section Engineer/Pway/Udhampur of Firozpur Division while working as a stationary patrolman o­n 28.08.2013 observe the embankment was slipping and the track was settling o­n the approach of bridge no 68 in Jammu Tawi-Udhampur section due to incessant rain. He immediately informed his Permanent Way Supervisior Shri Arjun Kumar. Shri Arjun Kumar immediately reached at site and attended to the track and ensured that 12445 Sampark Kranti was passed safely through this location. Due to their diligent working a major accident could be averted.

The meritorious contributions of all the above named staff were highly appreciated by the General Manager.
