As the northeast people from Bangalore are fleeing to their home states, Assam ministers rushed to Bangalore on Friday to discuss the exodus with Karnataka government following rumours that they would be attacked.Assam Agriculture Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka and Transport Minister Chandan Brahma, who arrived at Bangalore Railway station, said they have come to meet the state authorities in Karnataka to review the situation.Brahma said he met the students and other members of the Assamese community living in Karnataka.Addressing northeast people at the railway station, Brahma said there was no need for them to go back to Assam as Karnataka is safer than their home state.Brahma also said he would remain in Bangalore for the next two days, if required.Deka, who was applauded by the northeast people assembled at the railway station, appealed to them not to leave Karnataka and said the community people were not cowards and urged them to face the situation.Karnataka Home Minister R Ashok and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar along with Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, G Parameshwar and Dinesh Gundu Rao were also present on the occasion.Fernandes also appealed to northeast people not to leave Bangalore.Meanwhile, a second special train will tentatively leave Bangalore at eight pm carrying about 3,000 people. |
