ALLAHABAD: North Central Railway has installed sliding booms at several railway crossings in Allahabad division to prevent cases of boom breakage.Sixty-eight sliding booms have been installed so far in the North Central Railway region, and this is being seen as a major step towards greater safety and punctuality in train movement.Cases of boom breakage at interlocked manned crossings affect the signaling system, thereby resulting in delay in movement of trains. After the main boom breaks, the trains are passed manually, creating greater risk of accidents. The sliding boom becomes operational when the main gates of the crossings get damaged by a vehicle. So far, the sliding booms installed in the region have helped check 8 cases of boom breakage in Allahabad-Kanpur section, 3 cases in Mughalsarai-Allahabad section, and 9 cases of boom breakage in Tundla-Ghaziabad section. |
