Title - NMR staff to get service recognition awards

Having become an event to look forward to ever since the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) was accorded the World Heritage Site status, the annual NMR Day celebrations scheduled to be held on Monday have generated considerable interest in various circles here.Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday, the Station Superintendent, B. Padmanabhan, said that elaborate arrangements have been made by the Railways for commemorating the occasion in a fitting manner.The highlight will be the recognition by the Divisional Railway Manager, Sujatha Jayaraj, of 49 railway employees who have been continuously part of the NMR for over 30 years.A special train with a steam locomotive would be run between Coonoor and Ooty.The founder of the Heritage Steam Chariot Trust, K. Natarajan, who is extending a helping hand to the Railways in making the celebrations memorable, said that two photo exhibitions would sing the glory of the NMR.
