Guwahati : NF Railway today tallied three points by virtue of a first-innings lead against Silchar to top the super league tally with 11 points and will clash with the same team in the four-day final of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district cricket tournament elite group at Nehru Stadium here from Tuesday. Resuming their first innings at overnight 355 for five in 92 overs, NFR piled up 627, losing all the wickets in 157.5 overs. The bowlers also defended the total, successfully bowling out the Silchar batsmen for 81 in 19.5 overs. Overnight not out middle order batsman Krishanu Mazumdar scored 95. Tajinder Singh yesterday scored 135 to be the topscorer. Another overnight batsman, Swarupam Purkayastha, today scored 53 (4x5) while tailender Arup Das chipped in with a run-a-ball 97 (4x8, 6x6). The other main scorers for the side included Sibsankar Roy (54, 4x7, 6x1), Manoj Malo (50, 4x7), Parvez Aziz (43, 4x3, 6x3) and Mrigen Talukdar 38 (4x5, 6x2).Silchar leg spinner Kaushik Giri was the most successful bowler to scalp four for 155, while pacemen Pritam Das and Samik Das took two each for 87 and 62 respectively. The Silchar batsmen were skittled out for a paltry total. Barring opener Sukanta Dey (16), Raju Das (15) and Rajdeep Das (13), no one could score in double figures. Four batsmen were out for a duck. Offie Purkayastha accounted for three for 15 while paceman Krishna Das, left arm spinner Sekharjyoti Barman and offie Tajinder Singh took two each, giving away 14, four and nought respectively. Silchar finished the super league with seven points, including one tallied today. |
