Title - Nepal's rail track chronolgy

1927 - Raxaul Amlekhgunj Railway construction started and continued in operation till 1970.

1937 - Febbraury 16 Jayanagar - Janakpur - Bijalpura 51 km stretch came into operation but after the Bighi Bridge got washed away by a flood in 2000, the service remained limited to Janakpur (29km).

2006 - Nepal signed Trans Asan Railways agreement.

2008 - East West Electrified Railway Project office established.

2009 - Feasibility study of East-West - 945km, Kathmandu --  Pokhara - 187km, Anbhukhaireni - Bharatpur link - 72 km completed.

2010 - MoU between Nepal and India governments signed for cross border railway connectivity at fie different locations.

2011 - Department of Railways established.

2012 - Feasibility study of Kathmandu valley metro rail completed.

2013 - Detailed Project Report of Simara - Bardibas and Birgunj link completed - 136km

2014 - Construction in the Bardibas - Lalbandi section begun.

2017 - Nepal singed membership of One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative led by China.
